So next week, my class is going to see the play "Rainbow Fish". Therefore, the 3's teacher and I decided it would be fun to come up with ideas on based on this theme! I thought you may enjoy reading about some of our ideas! We are very fortunate because we will have enough teachers to lead each group. I have myself, an assistant, a cadet teacher who will be there that day, and the 3's teacher because we are combining classes for the activities. However, most of these activities can be accomplished with whole group settings.
Rainbow Fish Activities
Group 1: Play color word Candyland
game. We have an old Candyland board. Then took a blank dice and wrote color words on it. The students will roll the dice and read the color word; then move to that color on the board. For the 3's and the ones still struggling with colors in general, we have a dice with the colors on it, and they will say the color, and then move to the correct color on the board.
Group 2: Finger-painting Rainbow Fish-We printed out a coloring sheet of the rainbow fish. The students will dip fingers into different color paint and paint the dots on the fish different colors.
Group 3: Rainbow Fish Coloring Sheet-The advanced students will read the color words and color the fish according to the words. The lower students will look at number chart and color the numbers according to the correct color. The number chart is labeled with numbers 1-6 and next to each number, we made a square. For number 1, we colored a small blue square; for number 2, we colored a purple square, etc. Then, we numbered the fish according the colors we wanted it to be.
Group 4:
Science-Read “Water” book. While reading
allow students to explore with water and ice. We have a book called "Water." I am not sure who wrote the book. I will find out and let you know. As the leader of the group is reading the book, the students will explore with ice and water. This book talks about different forms of water and pre-k students love playing in water so I thought this would be a fun activity for them and goes well with the "Rainbow Fish."
