We started out our week by going on a treasure hunt. And of course we had to dress up as explorers!
As we walked through our yard following our map, we sang the following Hunt:
"We're going on a treasure hunt (tots repeat)
We're gonna find a good one! (repeat)
And a special surprise! (Repeat)
Look over there (We point to next place that map tells us to go each time.)
It's a front door
We can't go over it. (Repeat)
We can't go under it. (Repeat)
Guess we'll have to go through it. (Repeat as we walk out the front door.)
We're going on a treasure hunt (tots repeat)
We're gonna find a good one! (repeat)
And a special surprise! (Repeat)
Look over there (We point to next place that map tells us to go each time.)
It's a stairway!
We can't go over it. (Repeat)
We can't go under it. (Repeat)
Guess we'll have to walk up them. (Repeat as we walk out the front door.)
We're going on a treasure hunt (tots repeat)

It's an X! (An X on a sand box filled with corn)
We can't go over it. (Repeat)
We can't go under it. (Repeat)
Guess we'll have to look in it. (Repeat as we walk out the front door.)"
And inside of it was our treasure: A Bible!
This week we focused on how the Bible is the book God gave us that will lead us to the ultimate treasure: Heaven with God himself! We talked about how it is the best treasure we could ever find!
We also focused on the letter Xx this week. They made the letter Xx using laminated pieces of paper. We drove cars on the letter X.
We drew X with sidewalk chalk.
We made X out of popsicle sticks.
They made them out of pretzels.
They walked on an X written with sidewalk chalk. They made an xylophone by gluing colored construction paper on a black X.
They colored the circles with the letter Xx in them.
We talked about going back to school and read stories about going to school. The students' favorite was: If You Take a Mouse to School. After reading it, they wanted to build a mouse house out of blocks and of course I let them.
We decorated covers of notebooks for their alphabet journals. They picked out letters of their names and glued them on their notebook.
